EASTGAS S.R.L. is actively expanding its range of products for the metallurgical industry, offering two key solutions: pig iron product from blast furnace slag and briquettes made from mill scale.
Our pig iron product is manufactured by crushing, cleaning, and screening blast furnace slag. The particle size ranges from 10 to 800 mm, with a high iron content (from 75% to 87%) and an optimized chemical composition (C 4.22%, Si 1.044%, Mn 0.45%, with low S and P impurities). This makes it a highly efficient feedstock for metallurgical applications.
Mill scale briquettes represent a compact, high-density solution: total Fe content is approximately 70%, with Fe (metallic) in the range of 10–20%. With physical-mechanical characteristics — compressive strength ≥ 2.2 MPa, bulk density 2.8–3.5 t/m³ — this product is ideally suited for metallurgical processes. It can be used in blast furnaces, basic oxygen furnaces (BOF), and electric arc furnaces (EAF).
EASTGAS S.R.L. offers a tailored approach for every Partner — the chemical composition of the briquettes can be adjusted to meet the technological requirements of a specific production process. The company is open to close collaboration with clients’ process engineers to define optimal product parameters — including iron content, moisture level, impurity thresholds, and mechanical properties.
European experience confirms the effectiveness of such solutions. In Sweden, SSAB Europe in collaboration with Swerim is successfully implementing a mill scale briquetting project for BOF furnaces, which improves resource efficiency and reduces harmful waste. Other studies highlight the potential of briquettes made from mill scale and blast furnace dust, capable of operating effectively in low-shaft furnaces while maintaining metal quality and environmental safety.
