Import of Cement in the European Union: Trends for 2024–2025 and the Vision of EASTGAS S.R.L. on the Development of Domestic Production

In recent years, the cement market in the European Union has shown stable growth in imports. According to GTAIC estimates, in 2024, the volume of cement imports across 30 European countries amounted to 15.38 million tons, equivalent to USD 1.7 billion. The main importing countries are Hungary (5.21% of total imports), Italy (4.51%), Poland (2.73%), the Netherlands (2.31%), and Romania (1.64%).

Romania accounts for 1.64% of total cement imports in Europe, making it one of the notable players in the regional cement import market. At the same time, the country has a well-developed domestic cement production sector.

EASTGAS S.R.L. believes that the European Union, and Romania in particular, should fully capitalize on the potential of local production. This not only contributes to economic stability, but also reduces dependence on external supplies, which is especially important amid global economic uncertainty.

EASTGAS S.R.L. is proud to contribute to the development of local production and supplies the European market with high-quality raw materials, including Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GBFS) and Air-Cooled Slag (ACS), as well as Ore for the cement industry and Class F Fly Ash.

These materials actively support carbon footprint reduction in the cement manufacturing process, meeting the current requirements of environmental sustainability. Moreover, our products are available at competitive prices, making them an attractive choice for cement plants seeking to optimize costs.

Our blast furnace slags have undergone the necessary testing at “FEhS – Institut für Baustoff-Forschung e.V.” (Duisburg) and are registered with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in accordance with the Regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH).

They meet the highest quality standards and have the corresponding Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

EASTGAS S.R.L. remains committed to supporting EU domestic production by providing reliable supplies of high-quality raw materials. We are confident that, through joint efforts, sustainable development of the cement industry in Europe and Romania can be achieved, ensuring economic stability and regional prosperity.
