Austrian company Rohrdorfer has completed a €1.3 million investment in modernizing its cement production facility in Gmunden by installing a dedicated dosing silo for ground granulated blast furnace slag. This new equipment allows for much more precise dosing of slag during cement production, which leads to improved energy efficiency and a reduction in the proportion of clinker used.
This technological upgrade is part of a broader sustainability program by the company, aiming to reduce carbon emissions across all stages of the production chain. Blast furnace slag is an excellent secondary material for the cement industry due to its pozzolanic properties and low environmental impact.
